In the comments last week, RossWB asked what is the desired outcome (WKU taking the record or NU keeping it). My view is that while I'm not exactly happy that Northwestern currently has the record (c'mon guys, it's embarrassing), WKU getting close would bring up all sorts of negative publicity every time they lose again. To me, the worst case scenario is the Hilltoppers getting to 33 or 34 and then winning.
Losing Streak: 25 games (aka t-minus 9)
Losing Streak to FBS teams: 31 games (aka t-minus 3)
Previous Game: Lost 28-21 to Florida Un-American
WKU went down 21-0 before trying to make a game of it. They cut the lead to 7 twice, but never pulled even. According to the box score, WKU seemed to have Northwestern-esque troubles. They had 31 passes for 6.2 yds/attempt and 41 runs for 2.6 yds/attempt.
Next game: Louisiana-Monroe
I don't know anything interesting about them. Someone did show me an article about sports department revenue where they were last by a sizable amount in FBS. Considering they've won 6 games two of the last three years, that's not a bad return on investment.
Why WKU Might Have a Shot: ULM sucks pretty bad too. They're 2-3, but their wins are over an FCS team and FAU. They lost to Arkansas State. Also, that FAU win was last week, so they might have a bit of a hangover.
Realistically: WKU could win this game. At least one set of rankings has WKU higher and considering that the ULM players probably are getting off a 6 hour Greyhound bus ride just before the game should work in the Hilltopper's favor.
WKLSU Prediction: ULM 35-31
