Losing Streak: 26 games (aka t-minus 8)
Losing Streak to FBS teams: 32 games (aka t-minus 2)
Previous Game: Lost 35-30 to Louisiana-Monroe (note: just 1 point off of last week's prediction)
I find it somehow fitting that the week before Northwestern plays MSU, WKU had a collapse reminiscent of that debacle in '06. WKU was in control the first three quarters and led 24-7 before the 4th. Unfortunately, ULM finally woke up from the bus ride and scored 28 points to seize a crushing road win.
Next game: At Louisiana-Lafayette
"U-LA-La" seems to fit well with the French history of Louisiana. They are also the anti-Northwestern in at least once sense: I'm pretty sure that they are the only team anywhere nicknamed "The Ragin' Cajuns".
Why WKU Might Have a Shot: ULL might have a bit of a hangover after losing to conference heavyweight Troy last week. Like WKU, they too had a 4th quarter lead; had it held up it would have shocked the Sun Belt world. A loss like that can crush a team's psyche.
Realistically: I don't like WKU's chances here. ULL is solidly middle of the pack in the Sun Belt and WKU winning would be a sizable upset. Add in the home night game factor and the possibility seems dim.
WKLSU Prediction: ULM 42-17
