So, since many posters do not wish to discuss the future, trends, and direction of program/NU athletics, I will table that till the end of the season. But, let's discuss THIS season.
Forget the promises, hype, soft non-conf schedule, weaker B1G schedule, 1st-team B1G caliber QB and WR, more senior/junior filled starting players, and let's not forget, "anger from last year's finish," this team will have to fight hard to be bowl eligible.
Repeat that. Repeat that OUT LOUD. NU will have to find 4 wins amongst its remaining 6 games after losing 4 of its first 6. Hmmmm. Yes, Minnesota, Indiana, and Rice are not teams that are scaring anyone, but at this point, can NU be confident against anyone but Minnesota? But, that is just 3 wins, where will the 4th one come - PSU, Nebraska, or MSU? After seeing the last couple of losses, I think it would take a monumental upset that I've yet to see from this program outside of some Iowa wins in the past. Could NU beat Nebraska or MSU, sure, but forget razor thin margins, it would take a PERFECT game for NU against those 2.
So, NU in a year that was billed as a solid year produces a 6-6 year if we are lucky, and a strong potential of no bowl game. Forget trends, forget the direction of the program, just think NU's 3 consecutive bowl games which gets some fans excited even if the game is on at 11 a.m. ET on ESPNU, and Fitz's winning percentage which is better than Barnett/Walker. All those Fitzgerald accolades will be gone. Wow.
What a disaster. Sure, I'm sure you guys will question why I'm a fan or hate me or whatever, but forget about me, just think how bad this is and really take a step back and evaluate this season. I have said that Fitz is overrated for sometime, but even I didn't expect a disaster of this level.
SeattleCat, your prediction is looking better and better by the game.
