2011 NFL Draft: DT Corbin Bryant possibility for Steelers, Patriots, Jaguars

Gonna keep rolling with this draft stuff.

So, NU really has two guys potentially going to the NFL, and like Quentin Davie (who we done wrote about yesterday), Corbin Bryant isn't exactly an NFL lock. But he has received looks from NFL squads at the defensive tackle spot - in fact, he's gotten a little bit more buzz than Davie has.

The big man was an all-Big Ten Honorable Mention last year, despite not recording a sack all year. He's impressed teams with his combination of above-average strength and athleticism and could be a late-round pick.

Let's measure your vertical leap, lame jump joke.

Star-divide

Probably the most impressive thing No. 98 has done thus far in the pre-draft process was his performance at NU's pro day, benching 31 reps of 225 pounds, which is above average for an NFL defensive lineman, despite not earning an invite to the combine. Like Davie, he competed in the Texas vs. the Nation NFLPA game, and since, he's seen some looks from NFL teams looking for insurance defensive lineman.

First off, we have the New England Patriots, who scheduled a workout with Bryant shortly after his NU workout, according to Kevin Fishbain of WNUR Sports the National Football Post. Around the same time, his pro day performance impressed the Jaguars according to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post.

He's also worked out with the Bears (as a local player) and Steelers. The team which seems to have given the most interest to Bryant thus far (just based on Google) seems to be Pittsburgh, who appears to be bringing in a wide variety of defensive tackles in their search for potential late-round prospects.

However, we don't really see much buzz about Bryant being picked anywhere above the seventh round. Much like with Davie, it's likely that Bryant either goes in that round or not at all - although if I had to put down a gamble, I'd lean towards him landing somewhere. At the very least, with the amount of interest he's drawing, he should be a free agent signing in the days after the draft.
