This isn't exactly breaking news, but there were minor concerns that Olah wouldn't sign with NU; some paperwork issues relating to Olah's status as a international student caused a lengthy delay in Olah officially committing.
It's quite possible that Jared Swopshire and Alex Olah will be the starters at the 4 and 5 respectively for Northwestern in their 2012-13 season opener, although freshman Kale Abrahamson and transfer Nikola Cerina also figure to be in the rotation.
We've already covered Swopshire, who will be a key player for next year's team. What stood out from NU's press release is that they list Olah as 7 feet, 275 pounds. That's really big. Olah also averaged 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4.6 blocks last season while leading his school to an Indiana state championship in the Christian Schools division. Hopefully he can give NU a much-needed inside presence defensively and on the glass, and break the curse of Carmody-recruited big men.
