In my season prediction I said NU will lose one of its four non-conference games, but I don't think this is the one. In a battle of porous defenses, I think NU's will be a litte less bad and get the victory. Fitz will move to 7-0 in openers and even out the all time series against Syracuse at 5-5. I'm a little disappointed that Donovan McNabb nor Greg Paulus will be playing, but maybe Gerry McNamara can sneak onto the football field for a year of eligibility.
Final Score: Northwestern - 34, Syracuse - 28.
(Ed. note: Gerry McNamara jokes always get me.)
Since we don't really know anything about these teams yet, I am just going to assume that everything goes well for Northwestern. That always works, right? The offense explodes for 500 yards, evenly split on the ground and through the air; this is highlighted by a 15 carry, 100 yard game for Venric Mark. Without Justin Pugh, the Syracuse offensive line looks overwhelmed against the Northwestern front seven, as the Orange fail to reach 100 yards on the ground and Ryan Nassib is sacked 3 times. Nassib does manage 300 yards passing with only one interception, but he can't keep it close as Northwestern rolls.
Final Score: Northwestern, 41-20.
Our offense gets us off to a fast start, and our defense surprises early on with strong play. But then in the heat of the Carrier Dome, we begin to fade in the second half, holding off a spirited Syracuse rally just barely to squeak by with a win.
Final Score: Northwestern, 28-27
Final Score, Northwestern 28-24

Ryan Nassib proves us all right about Northwestern's pass defense with a 300-yard day, but it doesn't matter: Kain Colter has a Crazy Legs in a Dome game, with a solid passing performance and 150 yards on the ground. Northwestern takes some punches but walks away with the W.
Final score: Northwestern, 41, Syracuse, 35
