My analysis and outlook of the unbeaten, defending B1G champion Northwestern men's soccer team and the rest of the conference, previewing all of the games on tap this weekend for Big Ten Network.
Off-Tackle Empire (and yours truly) look at Northwestern. Come for the football analysis, stay for the references to Ender's Game, Us3's "Cantaloop," and Tyrion slapping Joffrey over and over again.....
Not sure if you guys would be interested in this, but I wrote a post on Mike Kafka and his (brief) NFL career so far. Check it out.

consensus 4-star huge commit
995 out of 1000. Say what you want about results and academics, but holy shit that's good. Tied with Davidson and above all the Ivies. Go 'Cats!
Seth Davis's annual draft article where he complies anonymous quotes from various NBA scouts and GMs is up, and is much more insightful than last year's edition. The above quote is in reference to our very own John Shurna.
2012 big man Chier Ajou of St Thomas Moore Academy has committed to Northwestern per his Aau coach. He will be in Evanston on Saturday

Not really sure who to link to for this, but so far it seems legit. 2 stars according to ESPN. But wow is he tall (7'1" or 7'2" depending on where you look). Here's hoping he clears admissions. https://twitter.com/KyleNeddenriep/status/213700935728365568 https://twitter.com/ChrisEmmaScout/status/213727056163373057 http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/98723/chier-ajou
Probably should have posted this last night or early this morning so the employed folk among us could have set their DVRs, but better late than never! Right now Northwestern's 2009 win over Ohio State in basketball is on, featuring John Shurna's game-winner (SPOILER ALERT). The rest of the schedule (all times central) 12:30: Big Ten Icons, Otto Graham 1 PM: 2011 Big Ten men's soccer title game 3 PM: Northwestern-Michigan State basketball from January 5 PM: Northwestern-Nebraska football from 2011 7 PM: Northwestern-Wisconsin football from 2000 9 PM: Northwestern-Michigan State football from 2001 I would particularly recommend those last two football games for some of our younger readers who didn't have the pleasure of watching NU legends like Zak Kustok and Damien Anderson.
He worked out there a few weeks back, and I want the Knicks to draft John Shurna more than pretty much anything else.
A countdown post on Quentin Williams later, but for now, check out Black Heart Gold Pants' Pro Combat post on Northwestern football. It's good and stuff. I'll go back to writing my paper on Shakespeare :(
